I’m graduated from both International Human Resources and Communication, and I’ve always enjoyed learning and transfer my knowledge, for example to help people to align their work with their own values, which is part of my freelance job. However, even if I’ve travelled a bit these last years - especially in New-Zealand, Canada, Cambodia and Japan - I don’t manage to really integrate an international dimension to my job, and I really miss it. I would like to try enlarging my range of work possibilities in learning Chinese and Chinese culture.
I’ve fallen for Chinese language only last august (2018), completely haphazardly, in watching a Chinese drama. Some days after, I’ve found a first online Chinese course that I am still following. And recently, there is a MOOC (massive open online course) about introducing to Chinese language, and another one introducing to Chinese culture, so I’m currently following both of them, and would like to learn more.
If I’ve chosen to apply for the Yunnan University Chinese language program, it’s first of all because I’ve learned that my current living city, Nancy (in France), is the sister city of Kunming. So I’ve looked for more information about the city and the University. The location of Kunming seems ideal for experiencing Chinese and other asian cultures, and the University itself has a very good reputation, regarding its ranking and all the good feedbacks seen on different websites and forum.
For all these different reasons, I would like to learn Chinese at the Yunnan University, but also discover Chinese culture, History, arts, craft, music, and so on. I then hope to be able to include this experience to my job.

I found Yunnan University with the help of my school counselor. When I mentioned the University to my Chinese friends, most of them have heard of it and spoke highly of it. Based on my research and the opinions of my Chinese friends, it is an excellent University for studying Chinese as an international student. I believe that attending Yunnan University will help me along my path to success. The high quality of teaching, coupled with a nice environment and good atmosphere, will enable me to acquire an advanced level of Chinese in a short period of time. I am certain, that having the skills to speak and understand Chinese will contribute to my anticipated future business career.

I am Krittika Uniyal, and I have completed my Masters in Politics (with specialization in International Relations) from Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi, India. In my Doctoral research I intend to look into the future and scope of Trans Himalayan Economic Cooperation, and hence for the better understanding of the Chinese literature on this subject I may have to consult Chinese documentation through the course of my study. For this reason learning Chinese language is extremely necessary for me.

1. Course Duration and Training Methods

- Students who apply this program can register for regular courses of Chinese language and culture any time during the year.
- International students mainly register for the non-degree Chinese programs in spring and autumn.
- Based on the students' Chinese proficiency, they may choose to attend the Elementary Courses, Intermediate Courses or Advanced Courses.
- Students with special interests may also choose to study by"one on one" (one teacher teaching one student) or"one on two" (one teacher teaching two students) approaches.

There are 5 different levels of those language classes: ElementaryI, ElementaryII, IntermediateI, IntermediateII, and Advanced. Each class normally has 15 students. Language course are compulsory and culture courses are elective.

Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant). The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

Students who will graduate this year should provide"Study Certificate" issued by their home universities and its Chinese or English notarization.
